Manual in terms of section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA)

1. The private body
This is the manual of the private body trading as Perspica. Perspica is operated by Nicolene Renske Steyn ("the Promoter"), acting on behalf of NRS TECH VENTURES, a company not yet incorporated, reference number 9463120280, in accordance with section 21 of the Companies Act 71 of 2008. Pending incorporation, the private body for the purposes of PAIA is the Promoter trading as Perspica. Upon incorporation and ratification of the pre-incorporation agreements this manual will be updated to reflect the Company.

3. The section 10 guide
The Information Regulator has published a guide, in terms of section 10 of PAIA, on how to use the Act. The guide is available from the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za or by email to enquiries@inforegulator.org.za.
4. Records available without a PAIA request
The following records are freely available on the website and no PAIA request is needed for them: the terms of service, the privacy notice, the refund policy, the disclaimer, this manual, the published curriculum and pricing, and the public certificate verification pages.
5. Categories of records held
The private body holds records in the following categories: incorporation and statutory records relating to the Company in formation; financial, banking and tax records; customer account records; learning, assessment and certificate records; payment and transaction records; supplier and operator agreements; correspondence and enquiries; and website and platform content.
6. Records available in terms of other legislation
Where another law grants you access to a record, that law may be used. In particular, data subjects may exercise their rights of access to their own personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 as described in the privacy notice.
7. Processing of personal information (POPIA)
The purposes of processing, the categories of data subjects and personal information, the recipients, the planned transborder flows and the general security measures are described in the privacy notice, which is incorporated here by reference. In summary: we process account, learning, assessment, purchase and enquiry information of platform users in order to deliver an assessed learning programme; operators include Supabase, Vercel, Payfast and Resend, some of which process information outside South Africa under section 72 of POPIA; and appropriate technical and organisational security measures are applied.
8. How to request a record
A request for access to a record must be made on the prescribed form published in the PAIA Regulations, available from the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za, and sent to the head of the private body at perspica@proton.me or the address for service above. The request must identify the record, state which right you seek to exercise or protect and why the record is required for that purpose, and be accompanied by the prescribed request fee and any access fees set out in the PAIA Regulations. We will respond within thirty days as the Act requires, and access may be refused only on the grounds the Act recognises, including the protection of the privacy of third parties, commercial confidence and legal privilege.
9. Remedies
If a request is refused, or deemed refused, the requester may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa), JD House, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg, 2001, email enquiries@inforegulator.org.za, or apply to a court with jurisdiction.
10. Availability of this manual
This manual is available free of charge on this page and, on request to the head of the private body, by email. It will be updated as the details of the private body change, including upon incorporation of the Company.
